Chinese car sales have skyrocketed, accounting for 33% of worldwide automobile sales in March 2024.

According to Cui Dongshu, Secretary-General of the China Passenger Car Association, about a third of the 8.15 million automobiles sold globally in March 2024 were manufactured in China. This gain is consistent with the gradual annual increase in Chinese global market share, which has rebounded from a 29% drop in 2019 to 33% by 2022.

Among Chinese automakers, Geely ranked in the top ten globally, with an astounding 738,400 vehicles sold in the first quarter of 2024, contributing to a 3.5% market share. Other Chinese vehicle exporters lighting up the charts include SAIC, Chery, and Great Wall Motor, and BYD.
