The Czech Republic’s car market underwent significant growth in May 2024, where the total new vehicle sales reached 19,546, an increase of 6.1%. This upsurge raised the year-to-date (YTD) sales to 3.2% higher, totaling 77,151 units. The revival of the market was marked by a phenomenal rise of the Škoda Kodiaq, which reached an all-time best position, and general good performances from various brands.
Skoda Kodiaq's Record-Breaking Performance:
In April 2024, the Škoda Kodiaq recorded a major milestone with sales rising by 25.5% and settling for the second position. This is an achievement worth mentioning because it is the highest rank ever attained by this model, having surpassed its previous best of third place on five different occasions.
Market Share and Growth of Leading Brands:
Škoda’s home market share was preserved at 32.8% even after reducing slightly by 7.4%. Secondly, Toyota had a strong increase of 52.7%, thus securing its place on the podium. Hyundai and Volkswagen were also impressive during YTD, which saw the two register gains of 9.4% and 6.4%, respectively.

The Škoda Octavia maintained its leadership position in the market with a 10.00% market share, declining slightly by 3.8%, followed closely by the Škoda Scala at 4.30% and Škoda Kamiq at 4.10%. Others contributing to the overall market growth were the Hyundai i30 and Škoda Karoq.
