China’s Auto Exports Surge by 16.9% in First 11 Months
According to the latest data from the Customs General Administration of China, the country’s automobile exports reached a staggering 762.97 billion yuan (approximately $106.04 billion) in the first 11 months of 2024. This represents a significant year-on-year increase of 16.9%, underscoring China’s expanding footprint in the global automotive market.
Chinese Auto Parts Exports Increase, Imports Decrease in October
Data from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM) revealed encouraging trends for Chinese automotive parts in October 2024. The export value of automotive parts reached $8.83 billion, experiencing a year-on-year increase of 15.2% and a sequential growth of 4.6%. Conversely, import values fell by 6.6% year-on-year and 8.1% sequentially, amounting to $2.29 billion.
China Used Car Market Grow by 8.12% in November
Reports from the China Automobile Circulation Association indicate that the national used car market showed positive growth in November 2024. The transaction volume reached 1.7856 million units, marking a sequential increase of 4.33% and a year-on-year rise of 8.12%. The transaction value for used cars in November amounted to 114.167 billion yuan. Cumulatively, from January to November 2024, the transaction volume was 17.7139 million units, a year-on-year increase of 5.74%, with a total transaction value of 1.165243 trillion yuan.
Changan Introduces C798 Model
On December 10th, Changan Qiyuan unveiled its new model internally coded as C798 in a cultural dialogue program featuring Chairman Zhu Huarong and Dong Yuhui. The C798 targets the mainstream family market and is built on Changan's new-generation all-electric intelligent platform. It boasts advanced features, including LiDAR for high-level intelligent driving. Changan Qiyuan has previously launched four products: E07, A07, A05, and Q05, with the A07 now offering a range-extended version.
CATL and Stellantis Partner for Battery Factory in Spain
Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Limited (CATL) and automaker Stellantis announced on December 10th their agreement to establish a joint venture to build a large-scale lithium iron phosphate battery factory in Zaragoza, Spain. The investment is expected to reach up to 4.1 billion euros (approximately 31.32 billion yuan). Production at the plant is slated to commence by the end of 2026, with an anticipated annual capacity of 50 gigawatt-hours.
