On November 17, 2024, Wen Hua, Deputy Director of the Environmental Resources Department of China's National Development and Reform Commission, announced that China has built the largest and most comprehensive new energy industry chain in the world.
Wen Hua emphasized that China has formulated the most systematic and complete carbon reduction policy framework globally, showcasing significant accomplishments in the transition to renewable energy. The combined installed capacity of wind power and solar power in China has exceeded international commitments by more than six years ahead of schedule. This early achievement underscores China's proactive approach to restructuring and upgrading its energy industry.
China's optimized industrial structure has led to the creation of the world's largest and most complete new energy industry chain. This extensive network includes key sectors such as renewable energy generation, electric vehicle production, and green building initiatives. Additionally, the green transformation of buildings and transportation is accelerating, with over 90% of newly constructed urban buildings classified as green buildings. As of 2024, the annual production of new energy vehicles in China has surpassed 10 million units, representing a substantial leap in the adoption of sustainable transportation solutions.
Over the past decade, China's resource utilization efficiency has significantly improved, with a 60% increase in the main resource output rate. This enhancement highlights the nation's commitment to sustainable development and resource conservation.
