Chinese NEV startup NIO joined hands with the global payments giant Mastercard for in-depth strategic cooperation. The two parties signed the agreement on December 6th in Shanghai. The positive respond for the news would be the rising of NIO’s stock. According to the market data, NIO's stock rising nearly 3%.
According to the agreement, the two parties will have a diversified collaboration covering services including user value-added services, payment innovation, data services, joint marketing, and ESG initiatives.
To be specific, NIO and Mastercard will work together to offer the following value-added services to users from both parties worldwide.
1) Mastercard cardholders may enjoy exclusive benefits for charging, battery swapping, maintenance, car rental, as well as business travel VIP rights.
2) NIO users will be able to have in-vehicle payment functionalities, such as seamless transactions for charging, parking, tolls, and shopping.
In our view, the cooperation is an exploration for NIO to fulfill user’s expectations, and beneficial for its expansion and business growth on the global market.
