Shanghai Opens Comprehensive Service Center for Used Car Exports
On November 20, Shanghai first port-area used car export comprehensive service center officially starts operation. Autocango learned that the service center is located in the Haitong International Auto Terminal and is also China’s first used car export inspection point within a port area. The used car export comprehensive service center is designed to provide one-stop registration and logistics services for used car export companies in Shanghai and the surrounding provinces. The new center is aiming to reduce risks and enhance efficiency for used car export companies.
Benefits of the New Service Center
The setup of this service center is highly beneficial for used car export companies. The companies can now submit the necessary documents and transport vehicles to the center, then the center will operate a one-stop process, including:
1) vehicle inspection;
2) “transfer for export” registration;
3) obtaining export licenses;
4) customs clearance for shipment.
Previously, used car export companies had to send vehicles to the city’s vehicle management office for inspection and registration, then move them to the port terminal, which poses higher risks and transportation costs to the vehicles, as well as goes through a lengthy procedure. Now, the new center will reduce transportation costs and cuts the process time by approximately 10 days.
Growing Market for Used Car Exports
In recent years, China has seen a growing demand on used cars from overseas, and a significant growth in the area of used car exporting. According to the Ministry of Commerce, China exported 275,000 used cars last year, generating a total of $6.88 billion export revenues. Meanwhile, Shanghai has been implementing a series of measures to streamline the export business process, in order to create an international, law-based, and convenient business environment for used car exporting business.
