Huawei Launches High-Speed L3 Commercial Autonomous Driving Solutions

On April 22, Huawei’s Intelligent Automotive Solutions CEO Jin Yuzhi unveiled the company’s latest innovations in Shanghai, including the ADS 4.0 autonomous driving system, HarmonySpace 5.0 smart cabin, and XMC vehicle control platform. Jin emphasized that Huawei has completed over 600 million kilometers of simulated L3 highway driving tests via its cloud-based virtual engine, declaring the solutions "ready for mass commercial deployment." The move positions Huawei to challenge global automotive tech leaders in advanced driver-assist systems. No pricing details were disclosed for the enterprise-focused solutions.  

CPCA’s Cui Dongshu: China’s Q1 2025 Vehicle Exports Hit 1.54M Units, Up 16% YoY

China exported 1.54 million vehicles from January to March 2025, marking a 16% year-on-year growth compared to the same period in 2024, according to Cui Dongshu, Secretary-General of the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA). Cui noted March exports alone reached 570,000 units, maintaining the robust 16% growth trajectory. The sustained momentum reflects Chinese automakers’ expanding global footprint amid competitive EV pricing and improved supply chain resilience.

A February 2025 CPCA report on smart vehicle trends reveals China’s automotive chip localization rate has reached approximately 20%, with state-owned automakers leading at higher percentages. Published April 22, the analysis highlights how the 2021 chip crisis spurred Chinese automakers to adopt domestic alternatives, a shift now amplified by geopolitical trade barriers. "Rising tariffs will further incentivize localized semiconductor R&D and production," the report stated, predicting accelerated decoupling from foreign suppliers in critical components like AI processors and power management chips.
