NIO has started the construction of its third plant, expanding its capacity, as receiving approval from the government, reports say.

At early stage, an annual single-shift production of 100,000 cars is anticipated from the new plant, with a total capacity of 600,000, cars per year. The plant is located in Hefei's Xinqiao Intelligent Electric Vehicle Industrial Park, and will produce vehicles for both the NIO and ONVO brands. President and co-founder of NIO Qin Lihong announced that the plant.

Because of the company's recent and notable rise in sales volumes, the existing two NIO plants had reached the maximum capacity for their single shifts, which spurred the need to establish this new plant. In order to properly satisfy the increasing market demand, NIO's production capabilities will be strengthened by this expansion.
