WeRide, a leading autonomous driving company in China, has launched its new generation mass-produced Robotaxi, named GXR.
Spacious and Practical Design
The GXR features a large interior space by cancelling the front passenger seat, in order to increase the legroom of rear rows. The whole car measures 5,018mm long, 1,340mm high, with a wheelbase of 3,100mm, providing a larger second and third rows
Advanced Autonomous Driving Technology
The GXR is equipped with WeRide's in-house developed full-scenario L4 autonomous driving system. The new HPC 2.0 high-performance computing platform offers an AI computing power of over 1,300TOPS. Besides, the GXR is able to handle various driving scenarios, including peak traffic times, mixed vehicle and pedestrian traffic, night-time highway driving and so on.
Safety and User-Friendly Features
In terms of safety, the car’s interior is designed without sharp corners, and each door has an emergency exit sign.
Leading Global Autonomous Driving Player
As the only technology company in the world with autonomous driving licenses from China, the United States, the United Arab Emirates, and Singapore, WeRide is actively processing its global expansion. The company has launched commercial Robotaxi operations, has accumulated over 1,800 days of public operation experience and has conducted autonomous driving research, testing, and operations in 30 cities across 7 countries.
Comparing GXR with Tesla’s Cybercab
Compared to Tesla’s Cybercab, WeRide's GXR has a lot of distinct differences in design philosophy, functional positioning, and technological implementation, A) the GXR is a mature mass-produced model operated on roads now, while Cybercab is a forward-looking model expected to operate by 2026; B) The GXR focuses more on practicality and comfort, while the Cybercab emphasizes on exploring a tech-savvy future mobility.
From Humble Beginnings to a Global Player
WeRide, established in 2017 in Guangzhou, is the earliest Chinese technology company to launch commercial Robotaxi operations. On October 18, 2024, WeRide finally completed the U.S. stock listing procedures, seeking to raise over US$400 million, with an estimated market value of US$5 billion.
