Nissan and Baidu Join Forces for AI and Intelligent Car Collaboration

Nissan (China) Investment Co., Ltd. ("NCIC") and Baidu Online Network Technology (Beijing) Co., Ltd. ("Baidu") made news on April 25th by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), ushering in a new era of partnership in artificial intelligence (AI) and intelligent vehicles.

An Alliance for Innovation

The agreement, which leverages Nissan's intelligent platform and Baidu's roots in generative AI, intends to analyze the viability of commercial collaboration in linked fields and influence future technical growth. Nissan will integrate its vehicles in China with Baidu's AI technologies, paving the way for a more modern automotive industry.

Boardroom Conversation

Masashi Matsuyama, president of NCIC and vice president of Nissan's Operational Strategic Office (OSO), stated that the collaboration is part of Nissan's business plan 'The Arc,' which expands strategic collaborations to include technology, product portfolio, and software services. He expressed confidence in the integration of Baidu's generative AI capabilities into Nissan automobiles in China, which will strengthen Nissan's intelligence and electrification projects.

Future of Baidu and Nissan

Wang Yunpeng, Vice President of Baidu Group and President of Baidu's Intelligent Driving Group (IDG), emphasized the potential of the collaboration, stating that this partnership would fully exploit Baidu's AI strengths, assisting Nissan in making significant breakthroughs in its intelligence level.

Wang underlined the intriguing prospects of future collaboration between the two tech behemoths, as Nissan expects to bring eight new energy vehicle models to the Chinese market by fiscal year 2026.
