BYD Unveils "MegaWatt Flash Charging": 2 km per Second at Peak Speed


March 17 — BYD Chairman Wang Chuanfu revealed the MegaWatt Flash Charging system at the brand’s Super e-Platform event, claiming a record-breaking 1 MW peak power with 1,000V voltage, 1,000A current, and 10C charging rate. The tech enables 407 km of range charged in 5 minutes, or 2 km range charged per second at peak speeds.  



IM Motors Launches IMAIOS with Alibaba’s AI Agents for In-Car Ecosystem


March 17 — SAIC’s premium EV brand IM Motors debuted IMAIOS, a vehicle OS co-developed with Banma and powered by Alibaba’s Tongyi Qianwen LLM. For the first time, Alibaba’s ecosystem integrates via AI Agents (not apps), enabling cross-domain control of entertainment, work, and lifestyle functions. A collaboration with Ele.me introduces an “AI Food Ordering Agent” for the upcoming L6 sedan (April debut), allowing voice-activated orders, auto-payment, and delivery tracking through multi-modal AI coordination.  



BMW Teams Up with Huawei to Integrate HarmonyOS for Seamless Connectivity


March 17 — BMW China and Huawei Device Co., Ltd. announced a partnership to embed Huawei’s HarmonyOS ecosystem into BMW vehicles, including BMW Digital Key and HUAWEI HiCar services. The collaboration targets HarmonyOS smartphone users, promising enhanced digital car-smartphone synergy through shared authentication and one-touch functionality.  



Hesai Plans First Overseas Factory to Dodge Tariffs, Ramp Lidar Output


March 17 — Lidar maker Hesai Technology is finalizing plans for its inaugural overseas plant, slated to begin production in 2026, according to the Financial Times. The move aims to mitigate geopolitical risks and expand capacity amid growing global demand. Hesai has yet to disclose the factory’s location.
