Jaguar Land Rover is working in partnership with Chery Automobile, one of China’s biggest car manufacturers, on the development of a range of electric Freelander cars. In what appears a game-changer for the automobile industry, these cars will use Chery’s electric platforms and they are going to be manufactured in the Chery Jaguar Land Rover plant situated in Jiangsu Province.

This step is strategically important because it may enable Jaguar Land Rover to take a key position in China’s booming electric vehicle market through better cost advantage and quicker vehicle development cycles offered by Chinese suppliers compared to any other car maker.

It also acts as a way for Chery to gain more presence globally in terms of EVs (electric vehicles).
