Geely ownership revitalized the brand with many new models and record sales volumes. It lets Volvo conduct business on its own while still preserving its brand values centered around safety and innovation.
What Ownership Means for Volvo
This ownership structure has allowed Geely to support its resources behind Volvo’s global ambitions while enabling them to remain true Swedish brands at heart. Going forward, electric vehicles will account for 100% of all new launches by 2030, with this purpose set firmly in mind, Volvo aims to widen its lineup of EVs over time. Given such an audacious vision statement by their chief shareholder happens also to be Geely.
In conclusion, Geely became the principal owner after buying out Volvo Cars back in 2010; whereupon it was agreed that Volvo should continue running independently albeit under Chinese management.
