October Car Exports in China Showcase Robust Growth
On November 24, Cui Dongshu, Secretary-General of the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA), announced that China exported 590,000 cars in October 2024. This figure represents an 11% year-on-year increase compared to October 2023, though it fell 3% compared to the previous month. Despite minor monthly fluctuations, the overall trend remains stable.
From January to October 2024, China's cumulative car exports reached 5.28 million units, translating into a strong 25% year-on-year growth. New energy vehicle (NEV) exports also performed well, with 200,000 units exported in October alone. This marked a 1% growth compared to October 2023 and a 10% increase from the previous month. Over the first ten months of 2024, NEV exports totaled 1.72 million units, expanding by 15% year-on-year.
Chery and Ebro Launch Joint Venture Factory in Spain
On the same day, Chery Automobile and Spain's Ebro Company announced the launch of their joint venture factory located in Barcelona. The factory's initial products include the EBRO-branded S700 SUV, with production of the S800 model set to commence in the coming weeks. The two companies formalized their agreement in April 2024, focusing on collaborations in electric vehicle technology to develop new products.
The joint venture plans to expand its annual production capacity to 150,000 units by 2029 and create over 1,200 local jobs.
Shanghai's Ambitious Low-altitude Flight Network Plan
In another substantial development, the Shanghai Municipal Transportation Commission released the "Shanghai Low-altitude Flight Service Management Capability Construction Implementation Plan." The plan outlines a phased approach to developing a comprehensive low-altitude flight network in Shanghai.
The plan's construction stages include:
1. Preparation Phase (by the end of 2024): Initial groundwork and planning for low-altitude flight routes.
2. Construction and Trial Operation Phase (by the end of 2025): Building and testing the operational capabilities of the flight routes.
3. Optimization and Enhancement Phase (by the end of 2027): Finalizing and optimizing the low-altitude public airway network.
By the project's completion, Shanghai aims to establish at least 400 low-altitude flight routes, bolstering the city's transport infrastructure and demonstrating its commitment to innovation in aviation services.
