Firefly is on the Way

Recently, there are more and more spy shots of the first model of NIO’s third brand “the Firefly”. NIO announced that the car will be unveiled on the NIO Day event, which is scheduled on December 21st, and set for delivery in H1 2025. Targeting the compact EV market, the new model will be a boutique quality car with a price range from 100,000 yuan (approximately USD13,800) to 200,000 yuan (approximately USD27,600), rivaling BMW’s MINI.

European Expansion

The Firefly brand will also make its way into Europe, expanding NIO’s lineups and services to local markets. In order to meet the strict safety collision standards of the European market, the Firefly makes great efforts on enhancing safety performance.

Design and Dimensions

According to the side soy shot, we can see that the car has a highly recognizable front and rear end, with a well dimension between the size of MINI Cooper three-door and five-door versions and Volkswagen ID.3, offering a moderate inner space.

Advanced Technology

It is reported that the Firefly will be equipped with the Journey5 chip provided by the Horizon Robotics, boosting a computing power of 128 tops, which ensures a better driving assistant in urban roads.

The interior spy shots shows that the car features a minimalist design, including a steering wheel in a rounded rectangular style, a full LCD instrument cluster, a central control screen, a column shifter, and an expansive view from the cabin.

Battery Swapping Network

The Firefly has a winning advantage of the access to NIO’s battery swapping network. According to NIO, the company will have established 3310 swapping stations across China by the end of 2024. Besides, the Firefly will have a faster swapping time, reducing 22% of the time. Otherwise, the Firefly models will be showcased and sold in NIO houses nationwide, and share NIO’s services, the company says.
