Stellantis Ships First 800 Leapmotor Cars to Europe
From latest reports, Carlos Tavares, CEO of the European automotive giant Stellantis, announced that the first batch of 800 Leapmotor cars has been shipped to Europe.
Details of the First Shipment
According to the reports, Carlos Tavare mentioned that Leapmotor International, Stellantis and Leapmotor's joint venture, will start selling C10 and T03 cars in Europe this September. We guess that the 800 cars are C10 and T03 models.
Leapmotor and Stellantis Partnership
According to the introduction, Leapmotor International also plans to establish 200 sales outlets in Europe by the end of 2024, and launch new products in the Middle East, Africa, Asia-Pacific, and South American markets.
Different from BYD, Chery, Leapmotor’s overseas strategy is not about establishing factories and distribution networks, Leapmotor will leverage Stellantis' distribution channels and factories to increase its sales networks, which will effectively reduce the adaptation costs of "localization" after going overseas. The target of sales networks will be 200 by end of 2024, and 500 by 2026.
Target Markets and Models
It is worth mentioning that Stellantis has been producing the Leapmotor T03 model at its Tychy factory in Poland, and the car is expected to roll off the assembly line in September.
However, according to the temporary EU tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles, this batch of Leapmotor models cannot avoid these tariffs.
