The BMW Brilliance Automotive (BBA) Hits Milestone with 6 Millionth Car

The BMW Brilliance Automotive (BBA) joint venture reached a historic milestone when their 6 millionth car, a fully electric BMW i5 in Frozen Pure Grey, went off the manufacturing line at Plant Dadong in China. This historic event occurred barely 15 months after BBA celebrated the creation of its 5 millionth automobile in February 2021.

Integrating AI for Quality Assurance.

In addition to the standard demanding quality inspections performed at the Shenyang factory, the milestone vehicle completed an Automatic Surface Inspection in the paint shop. The AI-assisted method requires imaging each car 100,000 times in order to detect any contaminants, fibers, scratches, or tiny flaws in the paintwork to the millimeter. Any imperfections discovered are marked on the surface with a laser and repaired.

Shenyang's production network remains strong.

BMW AG's Board of Management member in charge of Production, Milan Nedeljković, stated, "The 6 millionth car symbolises the extraordinary achievements here in Shenyang." The plant exemplifies competitiveness and innovation, as do BMW's other production plants across the world.
