BYD's Brazil Factory to Begin NEV Production in March 2025

BYD’s largest factory overseas is about to commence production. Recently, Brazilian government released a statement about the latest info of Chinese NEV giant BYD’s Brazil factory.

Production and Employment Goals

The report says that BYD Brazil factory plans to start producing NEVs from March 2025, and will create 10,000 jobs by the end of 2025, and 20,000 job by the end of 2026.

Stella Li, BYD Executive Vice President, mentioned that the BYD Brazil factory will be the largest and the most advanced electric vehicle production plant outside of China, with an expected annual capacity of 150,000 vehicles by the end of 2025, and 300,000 by the end of 2026. The vehicles will mainly cover the Brazilian and South American markets.

Technological Advances and Commitments

Furthermore, Stella Li told the media that the company will fulfill its promise of produce the company's first hybrid system in Brazil to President Lula. The project will be completed by 110 engineers from both China and Brazil. She also disclosed that BYD will establish a large technical research center in Bahia. Besides, a large production base complex will be setup in Camaçari city, with a total investment of 3 billion reais (approximately 4.452 billion yuan). The complex is composed of:

1)     A factory for the production of electric bus and truck chassis;

2)     A new energy passenger car (including both BEVs and hybrid vehicles) production factory with an annual capacity of 150,000 units, producing BYD Dolphin, the BYD Seagull, the BYD Song Plus and the BYD Yuan Plus;

3)     A processing factory for lithium iron phosphate battery materials.
