China Announces New Car Trade-In Subsidies to Boost Auto Consumption in 2025

On January 8, China's National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) and the Ministry of Finance issued a notice on the implementation of large-scale equipment upgrades and consumer goods trade-in policies for 2025. The notice includes improvements to the automobile trade-in subsidy standards, aiming to stimulate the domestic auto market. Under the new policy, individual consumers who transfer their registered passenger vehiclesand purchase new passenger cars will be eligible for trade-in subsidies. The subsidy for purchasing new energy vehicles (NEVs) will be up to 15,000 yuan per vehicle, while the subsidy for purchasing gasoline-powered vehicles will be capped at 13,000 yuan per vehicle. This initiative is part of the government’s broader effort to support consumption and accelerate the adoption of clean energy vehicles. The move is expected to further boost car sales and promote the transition to more sustainable transportation in China.

Leapmotor Unveils Long-Range C16 SUV, Targets 500,000 Deliveries in 2025

Leapmotor has launched the 580 Long-Range version of its C16 all-electric SUV, priced at 172,800 RMB and 189,800 RMB. The C16 has been a top performer for the brand, selling 7,945 units in November and ranking sixth in the mid-to-large SUV segment. The new model maintains the sleek design of its predecessor but adds AGS technology to reduce drag andimprove range. Inside, it boasts a 14.6-inch central touchscreen and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster for a modern, tech-forward experience.

Powered by a 215 kW motor and a 74.93 kWh battery, the C16 580 Long-Range offers a CLTC-rated range of 580 km. Leapmotor's 2024 deliveries surpassed its target with 293,700 units, and for 2025, the company is aiming to reach 500,000 vehicles sold.

BYD's Third Ro-Ro Ship "Hefei" Sets Sail with 5,000 EVs for European Market

On January 8, BYD officially launched its third roll-on-roll-off (Ro-Ro) ship, the "Hefei," which set sail carrying nearly 5,000 new energy vehicles (NEVs) destined for the European market. This shipment marks a significant step in BYD's efforts to expand its presence in Europe and strengthen its position in the global NEV sector. The vehicles onboard have been specially prepared for European consumers, offering environmentally friendly and efficient transportation options.

The launch of the "Hefei" vessel underscores BYD's growing influence in the global electric vehicle market.
