China FAW and Ecarx to Launch High-End Hongqi Smartphone

On April 18, during the fifth Technology Conference of China FAW Group Corporation (China FAW), China FAW and Ecarx Technology signed a strategic cooperation agreement. The formal cooperation will allow the two to promote further breakthroughs in the field of smart car interiors.

According to reports, both companies intend to form a broad strategic cooperation in the field of smart interiors by effectively leveraging their respective capabilities. The partnership will span numerous aspects, including product design and development for cockpit domain control, joint manufacture of environmentally friendly terminal devices, and operations and maintenance within the Vehicular Internet ecosystem.

According to the information provided, the goal is to construct a fully integrated R&D capability for "end-to-end cloud" smart interiors in order to continue developing the highly competitive Red Flag intelligent cockpit and Red Flag OS.

One of the most significant aspects of this collaboration is that China FAW and Ecarx will co-develop high-end smartphones under the Red Flag (Hongqi) brand. This collaborative initiative is expected to provide users with the ultimate integrated intelligent interactive experience.

Official records revealed that the Red Flag brand's new energy wholesale sales topped 15,000 vehicles in Q1 2024, a remarkable increase of 66.3% over the previous year period.

Ecarx Technology, which has been regarded as a global travel technology corporation from its inception, was formerly known as the "Geely System".

In just seven years, Ecarx Technology has constructed an all-inclusive value chain structure centered on "smart cockpit + intelligent driving + intelligent manufacturing". Their product ecosystem of intelligent cockpit and intelligent driving products is referred to as "Mountain" and "Sky" respectively. Ecarx is constantly growing its comprehensive solution for the car brain cabin (the Carbrain CabinRiteTM), while its basic technology is already installed in over 6 million vehicles worldwide across 16 OEMs and 25 brands.
