Geely Galaxy E5 Unveiling

In Q3 2024, Geely is set to launch its new brand of SUV, Galaxy E5, according to the reports. The car named Galaxy E5 is currently being tested in left and right-hand drive configurations and is intended for global markets.

The Galaxy E5 is positioned as a compact SUV, and expected to be priced between ¥150,000 and ¥200,000 with first deliveries scheduled by Q3 2024, while exports are expected to start in Q1 2025.

Galaxy E5 will use Geely in-house developed battery —— the Aegis Short Blade lithium-iron-phosphate Batteries, which offers two capacities: 49.52kWh and 60.22kWh, with corresponding ranges of 440 kilometers and 530 kilometers, respectively. The Aegis Short Blade Batteries is said to have superior safety performance and a longer service life.

New Designs and Structures

The vehicle measures 4615/1901/1670 mm with a wheelbase of 2750 mm and is complemented by low drag wheels in 19 inches with three colors: Glowing Red, Evening Cherry Pink, and Azure Green.

Advanced Internal Characteristics

Galaxy E5 has  ample space inside the cabin according to the company. Inside the cabin, we can see an independent LCD dash panel, HUD, and a big central levitating infotainment screen. The car has a flat-bottomed steering wheel, adjustable back seats, plus a 16-speaker stereo system, enhancing great technique style.

Geely’s Galaxy E5 is powered by the Dragon Eagle-1 chip, which is the first domestically produced intelligent cockpit chip designed and manufactured based on the 7nm process node, with a GPU performance reaches 900GFLOPS, and a performance of 8TOPS.

Another selling point of Galaxy E5 is the Flyme Auto system, co-designed by Geely and Meizu, a firm owned by Geely Group. AutoCango made a brief check that the Flyme Auto system has already equipped on Lynk&Co 07, Lynk&Co 08, Lynk&Co 09, and Polestar 4, and Galaxy E8.

Efficiency on its Own Terms

There is an 11-in-1 smart electric drive motor capable of producing up to 160 kW fitted into this particular Geely Galaxy E5, making it an 11.9 kWh/100km CLTC basis which delivers an impressive 90.04% efficiency.

Greatest Aerodynamics

It has the best drag coefficient of Cd 0.269 in its class among its peers. To achieve such design efficiency and an extended cruising range of 77.6 km, there are 24 improvements made on the original design.
