On August 6th, HIMA’s Stelato S9, a collaboration between the Chinese Tech giant Huawei and BAIC, was officially launched. As one of Huawei's "Four Realms", the Stelato S9 has drawn a significant attention since it made its global debut in 2024 Beijing Auto Show.

At the launch event, Richard Yu, Chairman of Huawei's Smart Vehicle Solutions BU, Zhang Jianyong, Chairman of BAIC Group, and Zeng Yuqun, Chairman and CEO of CATL jointly endorsed the Stelato S9. Notably, the starting price of Stelato S9 was reduced from the previously announced 450,000 Yuan to 399,800 Yuan, about 55,910 USD.

The Stelato S9 is a joint creation of Huawei and BAIC, positioned as a premium flagship sedan under Huawei's HIMA (Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance). Autocango learned that Stelato S9 was launched with two models, they are Stelato S9 Max, priced at 399,800 Yuan, and the Stelato S9 Ultra at 449,800 Yuan.

Stelato S9 is said to be equipped with the HUAWEI ADS 3.0, the latest Huawei's Tuling Intelligent Chassis, and zero-gravity seats for the rear row in a sedan.

At the event, Richard Yu also stated that the Stelato S9 surpasses traditional luxury cars in terms of spatial efficiency, drag coefficient, 0-100 kilometer acceleration, range, and energy consumption.

The Stelato S9 is positioned as a mid-large flagship sedan, with dimensions of 5160mm in length, 1987mm in width, and 1486mm in height, and a wheelbase of 3050mm, providing a spacious and comfortable interior with a usable length of incredible 3460mm.

In terms of power and range, the S9 is equipped with a latest HUAWEI DriveONE 800V high-voltage silicon carbide platform, enabling the car to accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in just 3.9 seconds, with a comprehensive electricity consumption per 100km of only 13.2kW, and a CLTC range of up to 816km. The fast charging ability is incredible, it only takes 5 minutes to add 200km of range.

The Stelato S9 also features an exclusive chassis platform — the Huawei Tuling Intelligent Chassis, showing strong characteristics by perception, intelligence, and comfort. The platform has a multimodal fusion perception system, a HUAWEI DATS (dynamic adaptive torque system), a HUAWEI XMOTION intelligent body control system, and a five-level adjustable air springs with CDC continuous damping control system on both trims. The car also provides passengers with anti-motion sickness mode for a more comfortable travel experience.

Let’s talk about Stelato S9’s advanced intelligent driving abilities. The Stelato S9 is equipped with the HUAWEI ADS 3.0 providing a similar to human driving assistance. Its intelligent parking function has also been upgraded, not only can it "see and park," but it also supports valet parking and park-and-go functions.

Considering the safety, the Stelato S9 features the all-direction anti-collision system CAS 3.0 and the enhanced automatic emergency steering eAES system, providing comprehensive protection for user safety.

The Stelato S9 is said to begin delivery on August 7th. According to plans, the first phase of annual capacity of Stelato’s Super Factory is 120,000 units, which can later be expanded to 300,000 units, achieving a production rate of one car per minute.

In fact, under the HIMA, there are already three brands launched their models, they are AITO (问界), Luxeed (智界), and Stelato (享界). The next one brand Maextro (尊界) is co-created by Huawei and JAC.

Till now, AITO, as the first brand, has been recognized by the market, achieving good reputation and preforming well on sales. AITO delivered over 220,000 units from January to July in 2024, achieving the milestone of producing 400,000 units in just 28 months on July 30th.

However, Luxeed doesn’t continue this momentum. The Luxceed S7 was launched in November 2023, but due to low sales and postponed delivery, it was relaunched in this April. Even though, its monthly sales are still around four or five thousand units, and in June, it dropped to 2,000 units.

Can the Stelato S9 replicate the success of AITO? Let's wait and see.
