China's IM Motors held a launch event yesterday to introduce the IM L6. It is the automaker's fourth production car and its second sedan, and to be officially set to market in May.
The IM L6's distinct positioning is defined by three outstanding features: its breakthrough solid-state battery, the cutting-edge "Lingxi Digital Chassis," and its high-tech cockpit, known as the "Future Cockpit."
The IM L6 features a semi-solid-state battery. It is marketed as the "first-generation light-year solid-state battery," with mass manufacture and ultra-fast charging capabilities. The capacity reaches 130kWh, guaranteeing a Chinese Light-Duty Test Cycle (CLTC) range of more than 1,000 kilometers and setting a new standard in green transportation.
The Lingxi Digital Chassis exemplifies IM Motors' expertise in motion control systems. This dynamically adjustable architecture ensures quick and accurate responses to changes on the road, providing the ultimate marriage of comfort and safety. The technology, which is unique to the Chinese market, also includes crab walk capabilities, a trademark feature that improves maneuverability to unparalleled levels.
In terms of the Future Cockpit, IM Motors equips the L6 with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295P and NVIDIA Orin X CPUs, as well as roof-mounted LiDAR. The integrated technology provides an unprecedented range of Advanced Driver-Assistance System (ADAS) functions, including a public beta test of city-pilot aided driving scheduled for Q2 2024.
In terms of pre-sales prices, the IM L6 Max Standard Edition is priced no more than RMB 230,000, the IM L6 Max Performance Edition is priced no more than RMB 299,900, and the IM L6 Max Lightyear Edition is priced no more than RMB 330,000.
