On February 25th, Li Auto unveils the picture of its i8 all-electric SUV. It is expected that the i8 will debut on April’s Shanghai Auto Show, which is 2 months away, and hit the market in Q3 2025. From its outlook, the i8 may target six-seater premium large SUV segment at RMB300,000 - RMB400,000 yuan.

Distinct Design Features

As Li Auto’s first all-electric SUV, the i8 features a sleek coupe-SUV silhouette, and a closed front grille, making it different from its EREV lineup, while, with the brand’s signature Star Ring light bar, the i8 differentiate itself from the Li MEGA all-electric MPV. For family users, this kind of adjustment on outlook may be safer for Li Auto.

Speculations and Expectations

According to Li Xiang, the founder of Li Auto, the i8 is the travel version of Model X. Now you all see it. The company didn’t unveil more details of the i8, while the specs has sparked speculations.

The i8 is expected to be packed with a dual-motor all-wheel drive system producing a combined maximum power of 400kW and utilizing a 102.7kWh battery. Additionally, some predicted that the i8 will adopt NVIDIA Thor chip and dual LiDARs, coupled with Li Auto's standard full-scene intelligent driving NOA, all of which will make i8 the top model among its peers.

Li Auto's Charging Infrastructure

Though Li Auto is renowned for its EREVs, the company is dedicated to build supercharging stations. Until now, Li Auto has laid out 1,862 supercharging stations nationwide, second to Tesla. It is worth mentioning that the supercharging stations are offering 5C supercharging services, which means, it takes only 12 minutes for the car to gain 500km range. Too fast to have range anxiety.

2025 Lineup Breakdown

As for now, Li Auto has five models available for sale, including the L-series EVER SUVs (L6/L7/L8/L9), and Li MEGA all-electric MPV.

Market Reaction

On the next day of the news, Li Auto's stock price surged to HKD 175.5 per share, with its market value rising by over HKD 74 billion in just one day.
