Chinese New Energy Vehicle Startups See Gradual Uptick in February Deliveries


On March 1st, Chinese new energy vehicle startups XPENG, Li Auto, Leapmotor, and NIO successively disclosed their delivery figures for February. Among them, XPENG Motors maintained a strong growth momentum, delivering 30,453 new vehicles. Li Auto delivered 26,263 new vehicles in February, a decline from the previous month, while Leapmotor hovered around 25,000 units. NIO's performance remained lackluster, with 13,192 new vehicles delivered in February.


2025 XPENG G6 Completes Its Debut


On February 28th, the 2025 XPENG G6 made its debut, featuring 81 experience updates and a 34% renewal of first-level components. The 2025 XPENG G6 will come standard with Turing AI driving assistance and 5C ultra-fast charging AI batteries across all models, boasting six major features: strong intelligence, long range, accurate mileage, fast charging, ultra-safety, and spaciousness. Display vehicles are now entering over 500 stores in 214 cities nationwide and will be officially launched in early March.


Starting at RMB 176,900 ($24,000) FAW-Volkswagen's New Tayron L Hits the Market


On March 1st, FAW-Volkswagen's new Tayron L officially launched with a starting price of RMB 207,900 ($28,800), but a special offer price of RMB 176,900 ($24,000). The new Tayron L, in collaboration with DJI, has developed the IQ. Pilot high-level intelligent driving assistance solution based on "9V5R12U" intelligent perception hardware. Meanwhile, FAW-Volkswagen has outlined a "three-step" intelligent driving roadmap for fuel vehicles—Intelligent Driving 1.0 to popularize core high-level intelligent driving functions for fuel vehicles, covering 95% of national highways and 90% of urban roads; Intelligent Driving 2.0 to be launched in the 36th week of this year, achieving the on-vehicle application of end-to-end large models, covering 100% of national highways and 95% of urban roads; and Intelligent Driving 3.0 to be initiated in 2026, with intelligent driving functions covering 100% of national highways and urban roads.


AION UT "Parrot Dragon" Officially Launches at RMB 69,800 ($9,600)


On February 28th, GAC AION's AION UT officially launched, offering five models: 330 Starshine Edition, 330 Smart Enjoy Edition, 420 Smart Enjoy Edition, 420 Smart Luxury Edition, and 420 Smart Prestige Edition, with prices ranging from RMB 69,800 ($9,600) to RMB 101,800 ($14,000). As GAC AION's third global model, it has been officially named "Parrot Dragon" and is set to enter 18 overseas countries and regions this year. In terms of power, the new model is equipped with a 100kW electric motor, with a top speed of 150km/h. For battery and range, the 330 version comes with a 34.868kWh battery pack, offering a CLTC pure electric range of 330km; the 420 version features a 44kWh LFP battery pack (bullet battery), with a CLTC pure electric range of 420km and a fast charging time (30% to 80% charge) of 24 minutes.


BYD and DJI Launch the "LingYuan" Intelligent Vehicle-Mounted Drone System


On March 2nd, BYD and DJI unveiled the "LingYuan" intelligent vehicle-mounted drone system. The Fangchengbao Bao 8 Drone Edition, equipped with the "LingYuan" fast-charging version, was officially launched, priced between RMB 395,800 ($54,000) and RMB 423,800 ($58,000). According to Yang Dongsheng, Senior Vice President of BYD Group and President of the Automotive New Technology Research Institute, the "LingYuan" swap version will primarily be equipped on the Yangwang brand, while the "LingYuan" fast-charging version will be mainly installed on BYD's Dynasty, Ocean, Denza, and Fangchengbao brands. The "LingYuan" intelligent vehicle-mounted drone system will debut on six models, including Denza N9, Tang L, Sealion 07 DM-i, Fangchengbao Bao 5, and Fangchengbao Titanium 3.
