The L60, the first model from NIO's sub-brand Onvo, was photographed sans camouflage next to an NIO battery swap station. This is the first time the vehicle has been seen in its entirety; it bears a remarkable resemblance to NIO's coupe SUV variant, the EC6.

Onvo L60 versus NIO's EC6.

The newly released photograph depicts the Onvo L60, a mid-size coupe SUV, standing next to NIO's battery swap station, which bears striking parallels to the EC6. Given that the Onvo L60 was seen without a disguise, the vehicle's side profile was more substantiated, emphasizing the likeness to NIO's EC6.

Battery Swap and Other Features

One of the primary features of the Onvo brand is support for battery swapping, similar to the parent brand NIO. This allows the vehicle to have a fully charged battery in about three minutes, reducing charging issues for EV drivers. This capability also allows the sub-brand to provide a 'Battery as a Service' (BaaS) model, similar to NIO's, which considerably reduces the vehicle's initial price.

Pricing and Market Position.

Onvo, known internally as Alps, targets the market with prices ranging from 200,000 RMB ($27,720) to 300,000 RMB. It intends to capitalise on the growing popularity of electric vehicles, as well as their environmental benefits.

Battery Provider

According to sources, NIO has signed a deal with BYD to provide batteries to Onvo. BYD is now revamping its battery pack production lines at its site in Wuwei, Anhui province, to meet Onvo's needs.

Launch Dates:

While NIO is planned to introduce the Onvo brand later this month, the Onvo L60 is not expected until the fourth quarter. This interval will provide enough time for battery production and other last-minute changes before Onvo hits the market.
