Xiaomi is preparing to begin double shift production at its Beijing manufacturing facility in June in an effort to satisfy the demands of the expanding market. With this change, the daily operating hours will increase to 16 and the monthly output capacity will soar to an astounding over 20,000 pieces.
According to a recent notification, on May 15, the 10,000th Xiaomi SU7 was delivered. Since its March 28 introduction, the demand for the car model has greatly outpaced supply, with over 100,000 units already reserved.
With the start of the second shift, Xiaomi is better positioned to handle this increased demand. Moreover, phase two of the Beijing plant's construction, which will start in late 2024, will increase manufacturing capacity by 150,000 annually, bringing the plant's total capacity to 300,000.
