On the morning of April 3 in Beijing's Yizhuang, the first batch of Xiaomi SU7 cars was officially delivered to their owners. The delivery ceremony took place at the Xiaomi Auto factory, with Xiaomi's founder, chairman, and CEO Lei Jun personally handing over the vehicles to the customers. Concurrently, 28 delivery centers across the country also started their first batch delivery.
In the few short days since the Xiaomi SU7 first went on sale, it has received over 100,000 pre-orders, with 40,000 confirmed orders. A deposit of 5000 yuan is required for preordering or "Big Order" in the local lingo. There is a cooling-off period for customers to confirm their vehicle configuration and lock in their order for production.
"This is a kind of profound trust," said Lei Jun, "We must produce high-quality products and provide exemplary services. We will surely remember this day after many years: The day Xiaomi Auto officially entered the market, marking the start of a true revolution in intelligent electric vehicles. China is bound to produce a company as great as Tesla."
According to third-party platform CarFans, the typical consumers of the Xiaomi SU7 are aged between 25 to 35 years, with females accounting for 30% of purchases. Interestingly, the top-spec version of the Xiaomi SU7 Max, priced at 299,900 yuan, is the most popular.
The Xiaomi Auto production plant is systematically arranging the production based on the existing orders and is committed to enhancing its capacity. An official from Xiaomi Auto noted, "We are making every effort to increase the production and fully mobilizing our supply chain partners to ensure supply, operational efficiency, and high-quality production."
Deliveries aren't limited to the factory. Additionally, 59 Xiaomi stores across 28 Chinese cities have begun the delivery process. Delivery of the standard version of the Xiaomi SU7 and the Xiaomi SU7 Max is set to begin in late April, with the Xiaomi SU7 Pro scheduled for the end of May.
