Goldman Sachs anticipates Xiaomi YU7, set to launch mid-year, becoming China's top high-end new energy SUV. The SUV's specs reveal considerable promise, placing it against rivals like Tesla Model Y.

Xiaomi YU7 Set to Dominate China's High-End SUV Market

On Beijing time 9th of December, Xiaomi Auto official Weibo account posted the picture of the new YU7 SUV, and indicated that the YU7 is expected to officially entered the market in June or July 2025.

Lei Jun, the founder and CEO of Xiaomi, introduced the Xiaomi YU7, explained to all the pronunciation of the model, it will be "Y, U seven," standing for (Model) Y Ultra.

On the following day, Goldman Sachs, the leading global investment banking, released a report and expressed strong optimism regarding the YU7 SUV, predicting that the upcoming SUV will become one of China's best-selling high-end new energy SUVs, to rival with Tesla’s Model Y and Li Auto L6.

Goldman Sachs' Positive Outlook

Goldman Sachs believed that the YU7 will have competitive edge with its superior specifications, dimensions, performance, and endurance capabilities.

First of all, YU7 has the largest wheelbase in its class, a robust powertrain surpassing its class, and may focus on the selling point of extended range, as its use of the long-endurance battery.

Additionally, with more models launched, Xiaomi will be able to leverage economics of scale to increase efficiency and cut cost, leading to a rise of its gross margins. Consequently, Goldman Sachs has given Xiaomi Group a "Buy" rating, setting a target price of 33.3 Hong Kong dollars for the stock.

Success of Xiaomi SU7

The SU7, Xiaomi's first model, was launched in March, and has made a remarkable sales performance in the market. According to the market data, the SU7 has maintain an average monthly sales of 13,000 units, and in that case, the SU7 achieved its annual target of 100,000 units ahead of schedule in November. The company announced that it is now doing their best to a new goal of 120,000 units for 2024.

Given the successful market performance of the SU7, and the great marketing skills of Lei Jun, the launch of YU7 will be highly anticipated.
