Xpeng's flying car division, Xpeng Aeroht, announced recently that the type certificate (TC) application for the flying body of its "Land Aircraft Carrier" flying car (codenamed: X3-F) was officially accepted by the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) South-Central Regional Administration on March 21st. This news signifies that the model is on the verge of entering the airworthiness certification phase, laying the groundwork for future commercial applications.
The "Land Aircraft Carrier" flying car adopts an innovative design concept, consisting of two parts: the "land carrier" and the "flying body." The "land carrier" serves as a vehicle capable of fully enclosing and ground-driving the "flying body." The "flying body" is the first electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft developed for personal users, equipped with a distributed electric propulsion system, manual and automatic driving modes, and a 270-degree panoramic dual-seat cabin. This innovative design aims to seamlessly integrate flying and driving, expanding the usage scope of flying cars and providing more options for individuals and commercial users.
Previously, Xpeng's flying car Traveler X2 completed a low-altitude flight over Guangzhou on March 8th, providing strong support for the company's flying car technology validation and application.
Looking ahead, China's low-altitude economy holds tremendous development potential. With the continuous maturity of drone technology and the commercialization of flying cars, low-altitude transportation, express delivery, and other fields will see more innovation and development opportunities. This will have significant implications for improving logistics efficiency, enhancing urban transportation, and promoting economic growth, contributing to the advancement of China's economy to a higher level.
