BYD Launches the Song L DM-i and Song PLUS DM-i with 5th-Gen DM Technology
Finally, we witnessed the Song L DM-i and the Song PLUS DM-i entering the market. On July 25th, BYD held a laucn event for the two models in Henan Province, China.
Following the BYD Qin L and the Seal 06 DM-i, these two models are the third and the fourth model to be empowered by the BYD’s 5th-Gen DM Technology. Pricing between 135,800 yuan and 175,800 yuan, the two models are targeting the mid-size SUV market, which is the fiercest market.
Shared Technological Advances
The two models features mainly on three advantages, including ultra-low fuel consumption, powerful performance, and an extended range, thanks to BYD’s 5th-Gen DM Technology. The engine can achieve a thermal efficiency of 46.06%, a fuel consumption of 3.9 liters per 100km without electric power, and a combined electric and fuel range of 1500km.

Song L DM-i: A New Contender in the Mid-Size SUV Market
The Song L DM-i is a new member of BYD Song Family, positioned as a mid-size SUV, with a dimension of 4780(length)×1898(width)×1670(height) mm, with a wheelbase of 2782 mm. Take SAIC-VW’s Tiguan L Pro for example, the Song L DM-I is longer and wider in size.
The Song L DM-i is equipped with DiLink 100, utilizing a 6nm process chip, which offers powerful computing capabilities. In the cabin, we can see a maximum 15.6-inch rotatable central control screen, and a 26-inch W-HUD.
Song PLUS DM-i: Upgraded Performance and Efficiency
The Song PLUS DM-i is an annual updated model with several impressive upgrades.
First of all, its powerful performance impresses everyone. It is equipped with a 1.5L high-efficiency dedicated plug-in hybrid engine, combined with the EHS hybrid system, the engine could produce a total torque of 386N•m, and a maximum total power of 234kW, achieving a 0-100km/h accelerating speed of 7.7 seconds. Otherwise, the thermal efficiency reaches 46.06%. Finally, The car also increased its fast charging capability. For the 112km pure electric range model, the time to charge from 30% to 80% is reduced to 23 minutes; while for the 160km model, to 17 minutes.
