April 7 — China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) Secretary-General Cui Dongshu dismissed concerns over U.S. tariff hikes, noting Chinese automakers exported just 116,000 vehicles to the U.S. in 2024 (1.81% of total exports). “Chinese indepent brands have zero U.S. market presence,” Cui wrote, adding that brands like BYD and Geely have “ample room” to expand in Southeast Asia, Europe, and Latin America instead.
