JAC Group and Huawei’s High-End Vehicle Revolution
JAC Group, a Chinese automaker, and Huawei have announced plans to build a luxury smart new energy vehicle. The automobile is aimed at the ultra-premium class.
Surpassing the Giants
Yu Chengdong, Chairman of Huawei's Intelligent Car Solutions Business Unit, is sure that their collaboration would outperform luxury automakers like Maybach and Rolls-Royce Phantom.
The first official reports from JAC Group suggest that the premium smart new energy car, built in collaboration with Huawei, is nearing market ready. The Feixi Huawei JAC New Energy Vehicle Super Factory is under construction, however the exact product launch date has yet to be determined.
Strategic Business Partnership
Last year, JAC Motors and Huawei Terminal inked a cooperation agreement in Hefei, which led to this promising relationship. The alliance promises to collaborate on developing an elite, premium smart linked electric vehicle.
JAC Motors will be responsible for product development and manufacturing. Simultaneously, Huawei Terminal or a chosen third party will provide all global sales services, including marketing, sales, user care, and ecosystem management. The service system will be built jointly by both parties.
Impressive investment figures.
The ambitious project, located in the Feixi Economic and Technological Development Zone, has an estimated investment of 4 billion Yuan. It expects to produce 200,000 autos per year. Huawei's clever technology aims to build a brand-new luxury new-energy platform (X6 platform) to capture the local high-end market. The flagship model is a big to medium-sized MPV with a target yearly capacity of 35,000 vehicles, measuring 5.2 metres in length and 3.2 metres in wheelbase.
A profitable business.
Huawei's smart car selection business has been profitable. The good market performance of models such as the Aito and Luxeed boosted earnings in the first quarter of current year. At the same time, their diverse market share in China continues to grow, with models like as the new Aito M7 and M9 delivering strong sales results.
Against this environment, Huawei and JAC Group intend to create high-end models that drive good business development and influence industry rivalry. A live stream sale of the Luxeed S7 is also under consideration, highlighting the powerhouse partnership's aggressive efforts to reshape the premium automobile industry.
