Li Auto Collaborates with Covestro for Advanced Smart Materials

Li Auto and Covestro have recently inked a strategic partnership at Covestro's integrated Shanghai base on September 6th. It is reported that the agreement between the two parties is aiming to develop advanced automobile materials.
Li Auto, a leading Chinese NEV startup, joined forces with Covestro, a world-leading supplier of high-tech polymer materials. According to the agreement, the two parties will establish a joint platform to focus on the research and development of smart materials as follows:
1) advanced engineering plastics
2) smart surface technologies
3) high-performance optical-grade materials
4) thermal management solutions
The materials features enhanced flame retardancy, high toughness, and durability, and will be fit for the future of mobility.
Li Auto represents a positive sale performance this year till now, with sales volume achieved average of 30,000 to 40,000 units (in July Li Auto sold over 50,000 units, marking a recorded high) every month.
Cumulatively, from January to August, the automaker has delivered 288,103 units, announced by Li Auto on its official Wechat account. The number surpassed all the other Chinese NEV startups.
Li Auto’s collaboration with Covestro will enable it to meet the growing demand from consumers for eco-friendly vehicles, which will finally contribute to the circular economy and reducing carbon emission.
