Huawei-SAIC Joint Venture "Shangjie" to Debut April 10 as HIMA's Fifth Brand
Shangjie, the fifth brand under HIMA (Harmony lntelligent Mobility Alliance), co-developed by Huawei and SAIC, will debut on April 10th, Autocango has learned on March 24th.
Positioned in RMB 150,000–200,000 (USD 23,077–30,769) segment, Shangjie is aiming to deliver Huawei’s advanced smart cockpit and autonomous driving technologies at accessible price points.
Model Strategy: EREV/BEV Dual Powertrains, 800V Architecture
According to the media, Shangjie will debut in half-a-month time, with both EREV and pure-electric configurations. Huawei is doing its best to reduce the cost of the smart cabin and intelligent driving system.
Previously, reports said the first model under Shangjie is based on an existing model. Everyone presumed that would be RC7 under SAIC’s sub brand Rising Auto. But if cost reduction is so important, RC7 is not an ideal choice. Instead of RC7, Roewe’s ES39 could better align with Huawei’s aggressive cost-optimization goals.
As an all-electric SUV, ES39 supports 800V architecture, enabling to equip with 51~150kWh battery package, boosting a maximum range of 1000km. Which will be the one, RC7 or ES19? We may find out on April 10th.
HIMA’s Volume Play: Bridging the Affordability Gap
Is the Shangjie brand beneficial for HIMA? Of course.
HIMA is expecting to sell 1 million sales volume, which means 83,300 units every month. Let’s check out how HIMA perform in January and February 2025. HIMA sold 34,987 and 21,517 units in the first two months of 2025. In order to increase the sales, HIMA can’t depend on its high-end premium models, an entry-level model with affordable price is essential. If Shangjie managed to integrate integrate Huawei’s ADS 3.0 and Harmony cockpit into a model under RMB200,000, HIMA will fill the gaps, and capture budget-conscious consumers.
