XPENG AEROHT Breaks Ground on World's First Mass-Production Flying Car Factory
On October 27, XPENG AEROHT officially started the construction of its flying car manufacturing base in Guangzhou. This manufacturing base is the world’s first plant to use modern assembly lines for the mass-production of flying cars.
Factory Overview
XPENG AEROHT smart manufacturing base is located in Guangzhou Development Zone, Huangpu district, Guangzhou city. The initial phase of the manufacturing base will cover an area of 180,000 square meters, including infrastructure and four key production workshops: composites, connection, painting, and final assembly. The base will merge high aviation quality standards with the efficiency and scale of automotive manufacturing, in order to produce a flying car with higher quality, lower cost at a faster speed.
During the groundbreaking ceremony, Zhao Deli, the founder of XPENG AEROHT, introduced that the company commit to in-house research and development. The core components would be manufactured within the factory. Besides, the base will be a green smart plant. In order to significantly reduce carbon emissions, the base utilizes photovoltaic system to generate electrical power, energy-saving equipment, and a digital energy management system.
"Land Aircraft Carrier" Production and Future Plans
According to Zhao, the Guangzhou base is poised to produce the flying module of the Land Aircraft Carrier, with an annual production capacity of 10,000 units. The land module will be produced by Xpeng Motors.
When will the Land Aircraft Carrier enter the market? Let’s check out the timeline of the production plan for it:
- End of 2024: Start of the pre-sales.
- November 2024: First public flight demonstration at the China Airshow.
- October 2025: Attainment of the certification from the government.
- During 2026: Start of the commercial deliveries.
